The Slovenian national series in cross-country, downhill, enduro, pump track, and BMX racing traditionally conclude with a joint awards ceremony for the best competitors, which took place for the third time this Sunday in Kranj. Around 400 guests gathered at the event held by the Mountain Biking and BMX Commission of the Slovenian Cycling Federation.
The SloXcup, 20chocolate Downhill Cup, SloEnduro, Pumpaj Slovenija – Telekom Slovenije, and BMX Race Slovenija national series are a breeding ground for talent. Of course, mountain bikers have won medals at major competitions in the past, but this season has been the most successful one yet.

Successful Domestic Season – International Events Included
The mountain biking season, organized by the Slovenian Cycling Federation, consisted of 26 domestic races in four disciplines and six national championships. In addition to the first category race in Olympic cross-country in Kamnik, organized by the Calcit Kamnik Cycling Club, high-level international downhill racing returned at the end of September with the iXS EDC Kranjska Gora Continental Cup race, organized by the Slovenian Cycling Federation.
In addition, the Slovenian BMX Race series included the national cup in BMX racing, with five races again this year on both Slovenian tracks, in Ljubljana, where the national championship was also held alongside two races, and in Maribor.
Together with the awards for the best clubs, a total of 59 sets of trophies were presented.



Exceptional Season on International Level

An exceptional season for mountain bikers at the international level Slovenian mountain bikers won a total of seven medals at the biggest competitions. Maruša Tereza Šerkezi won the youth world championship title in Olympic cross-country and Nežka Libnik in enduro. Šerkezi also added a gold and silver medal at the European Championships in short and Olympic cross-country to her collection.
Matic Kranjec Žagar won bronze in the eliminator at the World and European Championships, where Jakob Klemenčič also won the European champion’s jersey and overall victory in the cup in this discipline.
Lenart Dejak secured the seventh medal with bronze in cross-country at the European Youth Olympic Festival.
In addition, Vita Movrin regularly competed in the World Cup cross-country races and also performed well at the World and European Championships, where she took 10th place in the short cross-country race, while Monika Hrastnik took third place in her last season at the World Cup race in Val di Sole.
A season that will be difficult to repeat!
The best of the best are also invited to the Evening of Stars, which will take place on November 17 in Ljubljana.
